How to cope with working from home….
Home and work for some are pretty much the same. Most people love to work from home because they can be more present in their family life. They also don’t have to dress up, drive in traffic or people much. But the reality is home can be a distraction. This is especially true if you have a family and even more true if you are a female. Although many women balance high-powered careers and the mom career, working from home can be challenging. Let’s face it, what child doesn’t want mommy? Not that daddy is not important, but generally, women have been the face of the caregiver society, although many men and other guardians also deserve as much credit. Gender aside, working from is a challenge. If you have children, pets, other family members, they can often disrupt you. They talk to you when you are clearly on the phone, open the door when you’re in a meeting, ask you to make meals during a meeting and sometimes talk very loudly when you are trying to organize documents. This is even more critical and annoying if you are a business owner.
If you are a business owner, you may benefit from getting some help by getting your business assessed and analyzed. You may also benefit by renting a “hot desk” once or twice a week to optimize your workweek. Unfortunately, not everyone’s home is built with an office or a private area to do work. However, sometimes you need a space to focus on a task. Many of us are balancing our home life and work life, and it’s a balancing act, but we are making it work. That being said, for some tasks that require focus, you may want to consider renting a desk/office for a day to finish what you are working on.
